“KRYLON” Series

During the years 2011 to 2020, John Padgett embarked on a bold and transformative phase in his artistic journey, one marked by his innovative use of Krylon spray paint as a primary medium. In this later period of his practice, Padgett embraced abstraction, creating vibrant and dynamic compositions that reflected his evolving artistic voice and an unyielding commitment to experimentation.

Padgett's work during this time engaged an eclectic range of canvases, including traditional ones such as cloth and watercolor paper, but also cardboard, acrylic plastics, and found or discarded objects. His preference for repurposing objects underscored themes of renewal and transformation, breathing new life into materials often overlooked.

This period stands out not only for its technical mastery but also for Padgett's exploration of environmental and existential themes, subtly embedded within his use of discarded objects and ephemeral techniques. Together, these elements defined a decade of creativity that cemented his legacy as an artist unafraid to push his own boundaries and redefine the possibilities of abstract expressionism.
